Jayson T. Funicello, MS, DC, CSCS
Dr. Funicello received a BS in Business Administration at Northern Arizona University. Soon after, he returned to school to study Chiropractic. As a child he received Chiropractic care and was helped tremendously which started his fascination with the profession. He is now an alumnus of Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri, where he earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic (DC) degree. While studying to become a Doctor of Chiropractic he was simultaneously studying for his Masters degree in Sports Health Science with an emphasis in Sports Injury Management. In addition to his Masters degree he has also attained the title of Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). The CSCS certification is a high standing attainment in the health and fitness fields that requires extensive knowledge into the proper biomechanics of the human frame as it pertains to strength training, cardiovascular endurance and fitness assessment. When practicing in Arizona he served as the Strength & Conditioning coach and Assistant Sensei (instructor) for the NAU Judo Team/Club.
Chiropractic techniques used by Dr. Funicello include: Diversified, Thompson, Flexion/Distraction, and Activator (a gentle low force option). In conjunction with Chiropractic he uses soft tissue techniques that include, but are not limited to, MyoFascial Release, Post Isometric Relaxation (PIR), Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), Trigger Point Therapy, Active Release, Cross friction therapy, Carpal Tunnel Release procedures, Neural Flossing and more. Some conditions will require rehabilitation which is done on site. In addition to treatment, Dr. Jay will give you specific exercises and stretches specific for your condition that you will be able to do from home. The home care portion of your treatment will be crutial to your recovery.
Jessica C Funicello, DC (On Maternity Leave)
Dr. Jess began her studies at Northern Arizona University. She graduated with a BS in Food and Nutrition Science with an emphasis in Dietetics. After graduating she worked in the hospital setting for a couple of years as a diet technician before deciding to return to school to study Chiropractic. She attained her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri. During her last year of study at Logan, she co-conducted a pilot study in the research department on the screening of Temporomandibular Dysfunction on a randomized dental population in a dental office. During her spare time Dr. Jess enjoys spending time researching topics of interest as they pertain to chiropractic, nutrition and orthodics. Her interest in orthodics started during her clinical experience in school and has grown since. “Seeing a patient transform their quality of life after simply supporting their foundation is a very rewarding experience.” She feels all people who walk should be supporting their feet to preserve all the bones above, thus encouraging the joints to wear properly. Joints that wear improperly can lead to Arthritis, which is felt as PAIN and Dysfunction. Please look at the “Orthodics” section of our website to learn more.
In addition to managing both offices, Dr. Jess is involved in patient care co-treating patients with Dr. Jay (therapeutic modalities, soft tissue treatments, education on “home care” for specific exercises and stretches, fitting orthodics and nutritional supplementation advise).
